A sorrowful look came from his face

Yet he walked away without looking back

She watched him go, fading

Then her whole world went black

4 years of love, or what used to be

He said they grew apart

But how can that be true

When he just walked away with her heart

Oh but how “considerate” of him

To bring her to the spot

Where they had their first date

A park once special but now is not

She sits alone on the bench

Where they shared their first kiss

Oh how she remembered the butterflies

How she remembered the bliss

“Forever and always” he said

Now just words that just sat next to her

A quiet time to think

Of what they once were

The box in her lap

Began to feel unsteady

There’s one thing she wasn’t

And that was ready

All the gifts she had given him

Now thrown out like junk

But he’ll get more from the next girl

Her heart throbbed in pain, and sunk

She stood to go, alone

Hands full but not with his

A long time awaits her

To accept what is
